THE THREE STEP PROCESS

I employ a straightforward yet effective 3-step plan to assist athletes in overcoming challenges and enhancing their performance in Olympic Weightlifting. Whether it’s an injury or a performance plateau, these steps facilitate a reset, restoration, and reload of the body, leading to improved results. Rehabilitation doesn’t replace training; it’s an integral part of the training process. Just as a training cycle has a deliberate timeframe, the rehabilitation process can span up to three months for long-lasting benefits. I recommend at least 10 visits to achieve this. Here’s how it typically unfolds:

Step 1

RESET

When confronted with pain or an issue, it’s crucial to initiate a reset process. This involves reducing pain and inflammation while identifying the underlying cause. Understanding the situation is essential for developing a targeted plan and prioritizing your well-being and values. Collaborating closely with an Olympic Weightlifting coach and physiotherapist who can comprehend the intricacies of the sport and guide you will require approximately 2-3 visits. These sessions can span over 2-3 weeks, depending on the severity of your injury or specific needs. During this time, we’ll also take the necessary time to curate an effective and personalized program tailored to your goals or adjust your current training regimen based on the objectives of your training cycle.

Step 2

RESTORE

Once the problem has been identified, the next phase involves restoring normal mechanics based on your unique anatomy. This process will require another 2-3 visits over a period of 2-4 weeks as you progress through your program. Every body is different, so the solution should align with your body’s strengths and weaknesses rather than imposing limitations. As you train, we’ll emphasize lifting cues and techniques specifically designed to address your imbalances or weaknesses, helping you regain optimal function. Restoring doesn’t solely focus on weaknesses; it also involves restoring areas where you can still make progress, ensuring that you remain effective and intentional with your current lifting. Your program is organic, and your daily and weekly feedback is crucial in ensuring its effectiveness and suitability for your needs.

Step 3

RELOAD

Finally, it’s time to reload and gradually increase the load on your body. This step involves getting back to training smarter. As you know, improvements in Olympic weightlifting take time! By gradually increasing intensity and volume in the right way, we aim to not only enhance performance but also address the underlying issues as effectively as possible. This may involve refining techniques, adjusting training methods, and focusing on prevention. Remember, this process is not just about fixing the problem; it’s about returning stronger and more resilient than before. Each step builds upon the last, creating a holistic approach to recovery and performance improvement. To ensure the process’s effectiveness and long-lasting results, it’s crucial to maintain a Continuity Program and incorporate the necessary maintenance and recovery work into your training.
